SONG BEFORE THE SERVICE: GOD OF ALL MY DAYS

WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP – PSALM 145:10

Leader: All Your Creatures praise You Lord, and Your servants bless You.

Leader: Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom

AllAnd Your dominion stands for all generations.

OPENING HYMN:  GREAT IS THE LORD AND WORTHY OF PRAISE

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader:   We are the people of God, but Scripture reminds us that we still sin.  We need to confess our failures, knowing that the Lord Jesus intercedes for us with the Father, who freely forgives us, through his infinite goodness and mercy.  So, let us draw near to God with sincerity and confidence, and pray together.

AllO Lord our God, you know us better than we know ourselves.  As we come before you now, believers and doubters alike, we all share a deep need, for we are all lost without your grace.  Search us, O God, and know our hearts, test us and know our troubled thoughts. Give us true repentance.   Forgive us all our wrongs.  Transform us by your Spirit to live for you each day, to learn to serve each other and, through the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord, to come at last to heaven.

Amen.

PEACE OF GOD

Leader: Through Jesus Christ, forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. In Christ we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of  his grace.

AllThis is the good news: in Christ we are healed, restored, forgiven!

Leader: The peace of the Lord be always with you.

AllAnd also with you.

READING: PSALM 91

read by Deidre Booth

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

HYMN:   BEHOLD OUR GOD

BEHOLD, OUR GOD

Who has held the oceans in his hands?

Who has numbered every grain of sand?

Kings and nations tremble at his voice

All creation rises to rejoice

Behold our God, seated on his throne

Come, let us adore him

Behold our king, nothing can compare

Come, let us adore him

Who has given counsel to the Lord?

Who can question any of his words?

Who can teach, the one who knows all things?

Who can fathom all his wondrous deeds?

Behold our God, seated on his throne

Come, let us adore him

Behold our king, nothing can compare

Come, let us adore him

Who has felt the nails upon his hands?

Bearing all the guilt of sinful man

God eternal, humbled to the grave

Jesus, Saviour, risen now to reign

Behold our God, seated on his throne

Come, let us adore him

Behold our king, nothing can compare

Come, let us adore him

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)

You will reign forever (let Your glory fill the Earth)
You will reign forever (let Your glory fill-)

Behold our God, seated on his throne

Come, let us adore him

Behold our king, nothing can compare

Come, let us adore

Behold our God, seated on his throne

Come, let us adore him

Behold our king, nothing can compare

Come, let us adore him

Father, we pray for the nations of the world, and for their leaders. We pray especially for our own country, Zimbabwe, for all who have authority or influence.

(open prayers)

Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Father, we pray for your church throughout the world. We pray especially for your church that meets here at Whitestone Chapel.

(open prayers)

Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Father, we pray for all those who are in any kind of sickness, trouble or distress. We pray especially for those known to us.

(open prayers)

Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer. Amen.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name: your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.  Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.

Amen.
